Lab grown diamond earrings are the easiest way to wear diamonds every day. A pair of studs goes with jeans and with black tie, and because lab diamonds cost less than mined stones of the same grade, a bigger pair is often within the same budget.

Lab grown diamond studs

Studs are sold by total carat weight, the weight of both stones together. A 1 ctw pair is two stones of about half a carat each. A 2 ctw pair is two stones of about one carat each. On most ears, 1 to 2 ctw is a size people wear every day without thinking about it. Larger pairs are a statement.

Four or three prongs, or a bezel

Four prong settings hold the stone securely and show a square outline. Three prongs show more of the diamond and look a touch larger. A bezel wraps the stone in a thin rim of gold, which is very secure and feels smooth against your hair and collar.

Backs that hold

Screw backs are the most secure and are a good choice for larger studs. Push backs are quicker to put in. We can show you both and change them on request.

Hoops and huggies

Huggies are small hoops that sit close to the lobe, lined with lab diamonds on the front. Larger eternity hoops carry stones all the way around, so they sparkle from every angle. Inside out hoops show stones on both the front and the inside edge. All of them stack well with a stud in a second hole.

Jackets and fancy shapes

An earring jacket slips behind a stud and frames it with a halo or a line of small diamonds. It turns everyday studs into evening earrings in a few seconds. Heart, triangle and cluster studs add a little character for a lower price than a single large stone.

Matching matters

The two stones in a pair should match in size, color and brightness. A small difference that you would never notice in one stone shows up when two sit side by side on your face. We match pairs by eye as well as by report, and we let you see them in daylight by the window before you decide.

Earring size is hard to judge online. Half a carat on a white page looks tiny; on your ear it may be just right. At our 47th Street showroom you can try different sizes in the mirror and decide what suits you. Tap the heart on the pairs you like and book a viewing.

Questions

Asked at the showroom

What size lab grown diamond studs should I get?

Many people wear 1 to 2 ctw every day, which is two stones of about half to one carat each. Size is hard to judge online, so try a few pairs on at the showroom and see what suits your ears.

Are screw backs better than push backs?

Screw backs are the most secure and a good choice for larger studs. Push backs are quicker. We can show you both and fit the type you prefer.

Are the two stones in a pair matched?

Yes. We match pairs by eye as well as by grade, so they look the same in size, color and brightness when you wear them.
