What makes a good tennis bracelet
Matched stones
A tennis bracelet can hold forty, fifty or more diamonds. They should match in color and size along the whole length, with no stone looking darker or smaller than its neighbors. You check this best by laying the bracelet flat on a white tray, then holding it up to daylight.
Total carat weight
Bracelets are sold by total carat weight (ctw). Around 2 to 3 ctw is a fine, everyday line. Around 5 ctw and up is bold and noticeable across a room. Bigger stones mean fewer of them, so a 5 ctw bracelet often has larger, brighter stones than a 3 ctw one of the same length.
Setting and links
Four prong settings show the most diamond. Bezel or three prong settings feel smoother against the skin. Each link should move freely, so the bracelet drapes around the wrist instead of sitting stiff.
The clasp
Look for a box clasp with a safety catch on one or both sides. It is the part that keeps the bracelet on your wrist, so it is worth checking in person. We show you how it closes before you take it home.
Sizing a tennis bracelet
Most wrists wear a 6.5 to 7 inch bracelet. A good rule is your wrist size plus about half an inch for an easy fit. We can measure you at the showroom and adjust the length by adding or removing links.
Bangles and other lab grown diamond bracelets
If a full line feels like too much, a pave bangle or a bar bracelet gives sparkle with a lighter look. Bangles are rigid and slip on over the hand or open on a hinge. Bar bracelets sit on a fine chain and stack well with a watch.
Caring for it
Take your bracelet off for the gym and for heavy work. Clean it with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Bring it in from time to time and we will check the prongs and the clasp.
