Choosing a lab grown diamond engagement ring comes down to three things: the shape of the center stone, the setting that holds it, and the metal. You can start with any of them. Most people start with shape, then find the setting that suits their hand.

Choose a shape first

Shape changes the whole look of a ring. A round stone gives the most sparkle and reads classic. An oval looks larger for its weight and makes fingers look longer. An emerald cut shows long, calm flashes of light, like a hall of mirrors. Pear and marquise stones are pointed and dramatic. Princess, radiant and cushion cuts sit between the clean lines of a square and the fire of a round.

On a screen, shapes are easy to misjudge. On the tray, set side by side at the same carat weight, the differences are obvious within a minute. That is one of the main reasons to compare in person.

Then choose a setting

The setting is the metal that holds the stone. Each style changes how the diamond looks and how the ring lives on your hand.

  • Solitaire: one stone on a plain or pave band. Simple, timeless and easy to pair with a wedding band.
  • Halo: a ring of small lab diamonds around the center stone. It adds sparkle and makes the center look bigger.
  • Hidden halo: the small stones sit under the center, seen from the side. A clean look from the top, a detail only you notice.
  • Three stone: a center with a matching stone on each side. Often chosen for past, present and future.
  • Toi et moi: two stones side by side, often two different shapes.

Metal and band

We set rings in 14k and 18k yellow, white and rose gold, and in platinum. Yellow gold warms a stone. White gold and platinum make a white stone look whiter. Platinum is heavier and wears slowly. Gold is lighter and costs less. We can show you the same stone in each metal so you can see the difference for yourself.

Why buy a lab diamond engagement ring

A lab grown diamond is a real diamond, grown in a lab rather than mined. It looks the same, wears the same, and comes with a grading report from IGI or GIA. Because it costs less than a mined stone of the same grade, many couples choose a larger center stone or a finer color for the same budget. Read lab grown vs natural diamonds if you are still deciding.

Engagement rings in NYC, without the pressure

Engagement ring stores in NYC can feel rushed, especially on a busy weekend on 47th Street. We work by appointment, so the time is yours. Save the rings you like with the heart, book a viewing, and we will have them out with three to five matching stones. Every price on this page is a starting price, and we give you the full number before you decide. If nothing here is quite right, we can make a custom engagement ring instead.

Questions

Asked at the showroom

How much does a lab grown diamond engagement ring cost?

It depends mostly on the center stone, then the metal and setting. Each ring here shows a starting price, and we give you the full price for the exact stone and setting before you decide. Our price guide explains what moves the number.

Can I change the center stone in a ring I see here?

Yes. Most settings can take a different shape or carat weight. Tell us what you want and we will pull three to five lab diamonds that fit the setting and your budget.

Which metals do you offer?

We set engagement rings in 14k and 18k yellow, white and rose gold, and in platinum. We can show you the same stone in different metals so you can see how each one changes its look.

Can I try rings on before buying?

That is the point of the visit. Book a viewing and try any ring on, compare settings side by side and look at the stones under the loupe and in daylight.
